Kathy and Scott Dalecio's small family label, with an estate vineyard in Rutherford and wines from Philippe Melka's team, and a suggested six-hour day of tasting around it.

Kathy and Scott Dalecio make small lots of wine on a simple idea: "quality over quantity, nuance over scale," and wines meant for the moments shared around them. Their winemakers are Philippe Melka, trained in Bordeaux with a background in soil science, and Maayan Koschitzky, director of winemaking and a partner at Atelier Melka, named a Wine Enthusiast "40 Under 40 Tastemaker."
In 2021 the family bought an estate vineyard of Cabernet Sauvignon on alluvial soils in the Rutherford AVA. They also draw on five other sites: a Diamond Mountain District vineyard at about 2,200 feet, Glass Slipper and Caldwell vineyards in Coombsville, and Platt and Reuling vineyards on the Sonoma Coast for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Each lot is fermented separately and given patient time in the cellar.
Dalecio is a small operation, and tastings are by appointment only, arranged by phone; the winery does not publish a tasting address or fees. We make the request on your behalf, confirm where you will taste, and build the rest of the day around the time the family gives us.
Tasting fees to be verified upon reservation.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

Pickup at 10:00 a.m. from a nearby hotel such as Rancho Caymus Inn or Auberge du Soleil.
Both are in Rutherford, close to the family's vineyard; we confirm the exact tasting location when the appointment is made. Rancho Caymus Inn is at the Rutherford crossroads, and Auberge du Soleil is the hillside resort above the Silverado Trail. The day below runs about six and three-quarter hours, and extra time can be added by the hour.
A private tasting by appointment, arranged by phone with the family's team. We allow about 75 minutes. Tasting fees to be verified upon reservation.
About 10 minutes away. A historic family ranch on the Silverado Trail where an owner or winemaker drives you by 4WD to old stone terraces, a ghost winery and a balsamic acetaia. The Terraces Experience is $90 with a seated wine tasting; we allow about 90 minutes. By appointment only, for up to five guests per visit.
About 10 minutes away. Lunch at Rutherford Grill at the Rutherford crossroads, a sit-down grill open daily. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.
About 10 minutes away. An Oakville winery built around blends and food, where a garden and cave tour ends with chef-made pairings from an open-hearth kitchen. The Oakville Trek is $150 for 90 minutes, Thursday to Monday (on Tuesday and Wednesday the Vineyard Flight is $100, 60 minutes). Reservations at least 24 hours ahead; tastings run 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Back by about 4:40 p.m., about six and three-quarter hours after pickup.
About $190 to $240 per person in tasting fees for The Terraces and B Cellars, plus the Dalecio fee, to be verified upon reservation; paid directly to each winery.
B Cellars pours the Oakville Trek Thursday to Monday; on Tuesday and Wednesday it offers the Vineyard Flight ($100, 60 minutes) and the day ends about 30 minutes sooner. The Terraces accepts a limited number of visits, so we request your date early, and Dalecio sets its own appointment time.
