The small personal label of Cliff Lede's director of winemaking, known for single-site Cabernet and Syrah. Christopher Tynan Wines does not receive visitors; here is what to know, and a day at sought-after estates nearby that do host.
Book a Six-Hour Wine Tour
Christopher Tynan worked harvest at Blankiet Estate under Helen Turley in 2005 and spent 2006 to 2011 as assistant winemaker at Colgin Cellars, working with Ann Colgin and David Abreu. In 2012 he became director of winemaking at Cliff Lede Vineyards in the Stags Leap District. He started his own label, Christopher Tynan Wines, in 2011.
The label is about single sites: small, age-worthy bottlings that show the character of one vineyard and one vintage. Its Judge Family Vineyard Syrah drew praise from Jeb Dunnuck, who put it up against any Syrah in California or France, and Robert Parker called a Tynan wine "outrageously spectacular and incredibly singular." Tynan has also earned 100-point scores in his career.
The wines are offered to the mailing list through release offerings, and the label lists only a post office box in Napa. It has no tasting room and publishes no visiting program, so it does not receive visitors. The day below takes you to three sought-after estates nearby that do.
Christopher Tynan Wines does not offer tastings.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

Pickup at 10:00 a.m. from a nearby hotel such as Archer Hotel Napa or Milliken Creek Inn.
Since Christopher Tynan Wines does not host visitors, this day takes you to three sought-after estates nearby that do. Archer Hotel Napa is in downtown Napa and Milliken Creek Inn is on the Napa River just north of town, each about 15 minutes from Coombsville. The day below fits a six-hour tour, and extra time can be added by the hour.
About 15 minutes away. A Coombsville hillside estate whose winery is built underground between the vines and an oak grove. A private visit by advance inquiry, one party at a time; we plan about an hour, and any fee is confirmed by the estate.
About 10 minutes away. Viticulturist Annie Favia and winemaker Andy Erickson's home winery on a historic Coombsville property restored with native plants and orchards and farmed with organic and biodynamic methods. Any fee is confirmed when the appointment is set (allow about an hour). By appointment, Thursday to Monday.
About 12 minutes away. Lunch at Oenotri on First Street in downtown Napa, an Italian restaurant serving lunch daily from 11:30 a.m. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.
About 12 minutes away. Steve and Seanne Contursi's winery on Solano Avenue in the Oak Knoll District, opened in 2024 and shared with a small collective of artisan vintners, with the organically farmed Lady Liberty Vineyard around it. Fees are confirmed when the appointment is booked (allow about an hour). By appointment only.
Back by about 3:30 p.m., within six hours of pickup.
All three estates confirm their fees when the appointments are set; fees are paid directly to each winery.
Favia hosts Thursday to Monday, so this day works on those days.
