About the Winery

Tom Celani learned to love wine helping his grandfather, who came from Ferentino near Rome in 1912, make table wine in Detroit with grapes from Eastern Market. Tom and his father built their distribution company into one of the largest Miller beer distributors in the country, and Tom began collecting wine seriously in 1983. He and his wife, Vicki, bought this estate in 2005; their daughter Olivia now leads operations.

The Tuscan-style estate sits in the Oak Knoll District at the foot of the Vaca Mountains, with 17 acres of vines and 120 olive trees. Mark Herold, a former Joseph Phelps enologist who founded Merus, shaped the wines for two decades and is now winemaker emeritus. Dustin Owen directs winemaking with Matt Sherburn, who helped bottle the first vintage in 2005. The signature wine is Ardore, a Cabernet Sauvignon.

Visits are private and by appointment, requested through the winery's form, with a reply within 48 hours. The Private Estate Tasting pours at least four wines with seasonal nibbles, and the Estate Tasting + Food pairs five small-production wines, including Ardore, with chef-curated bites and views over the vineyard. Hospitality lead Harry Oranges, a former award-winning concierge, looks after guests.

Tasting Fees

$88 for the Private Estate Tasting of at least four wines with seasonal nibbles, 60 minutes. $125 for the Estate Tasting + Food, five wines including Ardore with chef-curated bites, 90 minutes.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
