Dr. Dave and Betsy Carroll bought their Coombsville property in 2013 and planted Carroll Family Vineyard in the summers of 2015 and 2016. Dr. Carroll is a local veterinarian and business owner who farms for quality, Erik Carroll oversees the viticulture and winemaking, and the vines are in the care of Grand Cru Vineyard Management.
The vineyard is two acres of Cabernet Sauvignon: one acre of clone 169 on 101-14 rootstock and one of clone 412 on 3309, on Coombsville loam with a split canopy and quad-cane pruning. The family makes one wine, a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, fermenting the whole vineyard together to show the site and the season, then aging it 20 months in French oak, half of it new. The inaugural 2025 vintage is due for sale in late 2027.
There is no tasting room and no visiting program. To hear about the first release, sign up for the email list on the winery's website. The day below goes to three estates in Coombsville and along the Silverado Trail that do host.
Carroll Family Vineyard does not offer tastings. On the day below, the tasting fees are $150 at Palmaz, $80 at Darioush and $60 at Pine Ridge, about $290 per person in all, paid directly to each winery.
Tasting fees as of October 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
