A young winemaker's tribute to her grandfather, a Golden Gloves boxer, with Grenache, Zinfandel and Cabernet poured at release parties. Caro Nonno does not receive visitors; here is what to know, and a day at sought-after estates nearby that do host.

Caro Nonno means dear grandpa. Winemaker Shauna Herman named the label for her nonno, Bruno Malucchi, a scrappy boxer who won the Golden Gloves, which is why boxing gloves appear on the label, and who told her stories of making wine with his father in a San Francisco garage. The back labels carry her letter to him, and she calls the label a symbol of strength, determination and lasting legacy.
Shauna graduated from UC Davis in viticulture and enology in 2015, after working in the campus Student Farm vineyard, at Foundation Plant Services, which propagates disease-free vines, and a harvest internship at St. Jorge in Lodi. Caro Nonno now makes Grenache Blanc, a rosé of Grenache, a Lodi Zinfandel, two red blends called The Irishman's Red and Combustion, and a Cabernet Sauvignon.
The wines are sold online and through a wine club with quarterly shipments, and poured at restaurants including Original Joe's in San Francisco and Il Posto Trattoria in Napa. Ticketed release parties, recently at Norm's Place in Danville, are the closest thing to a tasting. Caro Nonno has no tasting room, so it does not receive visitors. The day below takes you to three sought-after estates nearby that do.
Caro Nonno does not offer tastings.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

About 8 minutes away. A women-owned urban winery minutes from downtown Napa, with a stylish tasting room, a zen patio and single-vineyard wines by Kirk Venge. The 11:11 Experience is $75, about 75 minutes. Open daily 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., by appointment.

Back in downtown Napa by about 3:50 p.m., within six hours of pickup.
About $215 per person in tasting fees for the three wineries, paid directly to each winery.
