About the Winery

Carneros Della Notte was founded in 2003 by David Harmon, the founder of wine.com. The Pinot Noir vineyard on his property in Carneros is farmed without chemicals and picked by hand, only at night, when the juice chemistry is most stable. The name means Carneros of the Night, and the winery says it was the first to use a glow-in-the-dark wine label.

Harmon spends the season in the vineyard, positioning shoots, thinning the crop and timing the harvest. In the cellar he cold soaks the Pinot Noir, handles it gently, barrels it directly and racks little, renewing his French oak after two vintages. The list includes a 2007 D III Vineyard Pinot Noir in a sand-blasted, hand-painted bottle ($150), a botrytis-affected 2010 LPR Late Harvest Pinot Noir ($80), Los Carneros Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, Viognier, Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc and rosé. Since 2016 the winery has run a joint venture, Own A Napa Vineyard.

Orders are taken by phone, and there are no tastings or visits. The day below stays in Carneros, starting a few doors up Dealy Lane, at three estates that host.

Tasting Fees

Carneros Della Notte does not offer tastings.

On the day below, Saintsbury's Garden Tasting is $65, Ru Vango's tastings start at $45 and Domaine Carneros's daily tasting is from $45.

Tasting fees as of October 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
