BRAND Napa Valley

About the Winery

BRAND began on Pritchard Hill in 2005 under Ed and Deb Fitts, who planted the vineyards and built a winery on the estate. In 2019 it was bought by Jim Bean and Christine O'Sullivan, former Apple executives, as reported by The Drinks Business. The idea behind the name is simple: wines that root deepest where they are grown and made reach highest.

The estate covers 110 acres high on Pritchard Hill above Lake Hennessey, with about 15 acres of vines at the 2019 sale. Pritchard Hill is a named area in the eastern hills, not an official AVA, and its neighbors include some of Napa's most sought-after Cabernet houses. Every BRAND wine is born, raised and made on the estate, and the winery reminds visitors that Napa has thousands of wine brands but only a few hundred wineries.

Visits are by reservation, with priority given to members of the mailing list. Every tasting includes a tour of the winery and a flight of estate wines with a small charcuterie board. The road up is winding, and guests love the views over the lake from the top. We book directly with the winery and time the pickup for the climb.

Tasting Fees

$225 per person for non-members, including a tour of the winery and a flight of estate wines with small charcuterie. Groups of eight or more are priced by the winery.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

Meadowood, at the foot of Howell Mountain, is about 20 minutes from the estate, and Harvest Inn at the south end of St. Helena about 25. We start a few minutes early for the winding climb. The day below runs about seven hours, and extra time is added by the hour.

1:30 · Oakham Estate Winery

About 15 minutes away. A family winery on Zinfandel Lane where breads come out of a wood-fired oven at your table. 2:55 · Vineyard 7 & 8

About 20 minutes away. A small family estate high on Spring Mountain, where a tour of the property comes before a seated tasting of current and library estate wines. The Estate Tasting is $175 (refunded with each three-bottle Cabernet purchase); we allow about 90 minutes. Prepaid, by appointment, Monday to Saturday.

4:25 · Back to your hotel

Back by about 4:50 p.m.

About $500 per person in tasting fees for the three wineries, paid directly to each winery.

Oakham is open Monday to Friday and asks for a week's notice for the bread pairing, and Vineyard 7 & 8 hosts Monday to Saturday, so this day works on weekdays. With the drive up Pritchard Hill, it runs about seven hours.

Every tour is custom. This day is a starting point: your chauffeur will shape it around what matters to you, and we plan multi-day tours for guests who want to see more of wine country.
