Beresini Vineyards is the wine of Black Dog Ranch, Steve and Debra Beresini's family vineyard in Los Carneros. Steve started in wine in 1969 and planted his first vineyard in 1970 near Woodside. He grew grapes for Stags Leap Wine Cellars and Joseph Phelps Vineyards and worked as a winemaker at Niebaum-Coppola alongside André Tchelistcheff. Debra runs the operations, after a career in Silicon Valley venture capital and banking.
The ranch was planted in 1988 with six acres, and today it holds nearly five acres of Chardonnay and just under two of Pinot Noir in the cool, bay-swept Carneros hills. Small-lot Pinot Noir is the focus, with Chardonnay in standout vintages, a rosé added in 2020 and the Wagging Tail red blend in 2021. The family's motto is The Nose Knows, and their black Labrador, Molly, is the vineyard companion.
The wines are sold on the winery's website and through a membership program; current releases include the 2021 Chardonnay, Pinot Noir from 2014 to 2019 and a 2021 rosé. Beresini publishes no tasting room or visiting program, so it does not receive visitors. The day below stays in the south end of the valley, at family wineries that do host.
Beresini Vineyards does not offer tastings.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

Since Beresini Vineyards does not host visitors, this day takes you to three sought-after estates nearby that do. Both resorts sit among the Carneros vineyards, about 15 minutes from the first stop. The day fits about six hours, and extra time can be added by the hour.
About 15 minutes away. Rolando and Lorena Herrera's family winery in south Napa, where a behind-the-scenes tour of the working cellar ends with a seated tasting in the barrel room. The Winery Tour & Tasting is $65; we plan about 75 minutes. By appointment, Monday to Saturday.
About 10 minutes away. A family label from the vineyard manager who once ran To Kalon and Opus One, poured in downtown Napa, with Oaxacan mole pairings on the menu. The Tradition Tasting is $60, 45 to 60 minutes. Thursday to Monday from 11 a.m.; reservations encouraged.
About 15 minutes away. Lunch at Boon Fly Café in Carneros, which serves its daytime menu every day until 4 p.m. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.
About 20 minutes away. A small family vineyard on the Silverado Trail whose private visit starts with a walk through the caves where the wines are made, then barrel samples and a formal tasting. $75 per person, by appointment; we allow about 75 minutes.
Back by about 4:00 p.m., six hours after pickup.
About $200 per person in tasting fees for the three wineries, paid directly to each winery.
Bazán is open Thursday to Monday and Mi Sueño Monday to Saturday, so plan this day for Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Monday. Three wineries is the right pace for a day of serious tasting.
