Jeff Owens and Valerie Angelo Owens met at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where Jeff was in the university's first graduating class in Wine and Viticulture and Valerie studied journalism. They married in 2007, joining the Angelo and Owens families, and founded Angelo Owens Wines in the fall of 2021, after two decades of working toward it. The Knot on the label stands for family.
Jeff started in the cellar with the PlumpJack Group under Tony Biagi, rising to assistant winemaker at PlumpJack and Cade. In 2012 he became the founding head winemaker at Odette Estate in the Stags Leap District, and the winery says his first vintage there earned a perfect 100 points. He works with growers across the valley, from Mount Veeder and Sugarloaf to Sage Ridge Vineyard.
The wines go mainly to members of the Knot Society, which has three levels, with first access to single-vineyard bottlings. Angelo Owens lists no tasting room, address or visiting program, so it does not receive visitors. The day below takes you to three sought-after estates nearby that do host, starting in the Stags Leap District.
Angelo Owens does not offer tastings.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

Since Angelo Owens does not host visitors, this day takes you to three sought-after estates nearby that do. Silverado Resort, at the foot of Atlas Peak, and Bardessono in Yountville are each about 12 minutes from the Stags Leap District. The day runs about six and a quarter hours, and extra time can be added by the hour.
About 12 minutes away. A family estate built against the Stags Leap Palisades, where a Robinson hosts every private tour and seated tasting. The tasting of four current releases is $65, about 1 hour 15 minutes. By appointment, Tuesday to Saturday, with the last start at 2:45 p.m.
About 15 minutes away. A hillside estate above Yountville with a castle-style tasting room and deep caves, on volcanic knolls shaped by David Abreu and Helen Turley. The Classic Experience, a formal tasting of five or more wines, is $175; we plan about 90 minutes. By appointment; the Napa Valley Vintners listing gives Tuesday to Saturday.
About 8 minutes away. Lunch at Brix on Highway 29 near Yountville, a sit-down restaurant beside its own gardens. Lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.
About 15 minutes away. A women-owned urban winery minutes from downtown Napa, with a stylish tasting room, a zen patio and single-vineyard wines by Kirk Venge. The 11:11 Experience is $75, about 75 minutes. Open daily 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., by appointment.
Back by about 4:15 p.m., about six and a quarter hours after pickup.
About $315 per person in tasting fees for the three wineries, paid directly to each winery.
Robinson hosts Tuesday to Saturday, and the Napa Valley Vintners listing gives the same days for Blankiet, so plan this day for Tuesday to Saturday. Back by about 4:15 p.m.
