Alluvium Estate

About the Winery

Alluvium Estate is a small Cabernet estate on a knoll in Coombsville, the cool appellation in the hills east of the city of Napa, at the base of the Vaca Mountains. Its winemaker is Ashley Hepworth, who spent more than two decades at Joseph Phelps Vineyards, rising to winemaker, and who also makes the wine at Phifer Pavitt and under her own A.Aitch label.

The name comes from the ground: deep alluvial soils laid down over millennia, which the estate credits for the character of its wines. Morning fog and afternoon breezes keep this corner of the Coombsville AVA cool, and the estate grows Cabernet Sauvignon, alongside a rosé and a Pinot Noir. In the estate's words, the wines are "the embodiment of the ethereal morning fog and our complex soil."

There is no tasting room and no posted hours. The estate invites anyone interested in visiting to get in touch, so visits are by private request; we make the request on your behalf and confirm the format. It is a working vineyard on East Third Avenue, about 15 minutes from downtown Napa, and a calm start to a Coombsville day.
