Yarrow Wine Co. is a small label made by winemaker Amanda McKenna in Forestville, in the west county corner of the Russian River Valley. It is named for yarrow, the wild flower Achillea millefolium, which the Navajo called the life medicine and the Irish hung on their doors to keep away evil.
True to the name, the wines are made to be wild at heart. The grapes are hand-picked from select organically farmed vineyards, and the cellar work is minimal intervention. Recent releases have been white wines: a 2023 Albariño, a 2024 Sauvignon Blanc and a 2024 skin-fermented Riesling, plus a Discovery 3-Pack, and they sell out.
There is no tasting room. The wines are sold through Yarrow's online shop, and the winery takes questions through a contact form and Instagram. For a day nearby, we take guests to small family estates in Forestville and Graton that do open their doors.
Yarrow Wine Co. does not offer tastings.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

Pickup at 10:00 a.m. from a west county hotel such as Farmhouse Inn or The Sebastopol Inn.
Farmhouse Inn, a 25-room country inn among the vineyards and redwoods of Forestville, is about 15 minutes from Scherrer Winery, and The Sebastopol Inn, in downtown Sebastopol, about 20. Since Yarrow Wine Co. does not host visitors, this day takes you to three estates nearby that do. The day below fits a six-hour tour, and extra time can be added by the hour.
The first stop. Fred Scherrer's small winery in a former apple packing shed off Ross Road, where he makes about 3,000 cases a year, half of it Pinot Noir, largely by himself. There is no tasting room or staff; tastings are by advance appointment, and we arrange the time on your behalf and confirm the fee when we book.
About 20 minutes away. Retired airline pilot Joe Swan made his first wine here in 1968 from old Zinfandel vines, then replanted to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay at the urging of his friend and mentor André Tchelistcheff. Tastings are complimentary for you and up to three guests, among the barrels or outside over the estate vineyard. Open Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
About 15 minutes away. A café, soda fountain and general store at the center of Graton since 1995, serving down-home comfort food. Lunch from 11:30 a.m., with brunch on Sundays. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.
About 10 minutes away. A cooperative winemaking studio on Gravenstein Highway where winemaker Mark Ray and a few independent producers make small lots of Russian River Valley and Sonoma County Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Zinfandel. Tastings at the Winemakers Studio are by reservation, Thursday to Sunday 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and by appointment Monday to Wednesday, and the winemaker can join your party; the fee is confirmed when we book.
Back in Sebastopol by 3:20 p.m., or Forestville by 3:35 p.m.
Three wineries is the right pace for a day of serious tasting. Joseph Swan opens only on weekends, so this day works Saturday and Sunday. Scherrer is by appointment, and we confirm the time when we book.
Joseph Swan's tasting is complimentary for up to four; tasting fees at Scherrer and William Henry Wineworks are to be verified upon reservation. Each is paid directly to the winery.
