Women-made wines from Italian grapes grown in California, with Megan Glaab of Ryme Cellars as winemaker. Tansy Wines does not receive visitors at a tasting room of its own; here is what to know, and a day at sought-after estates nearby that do host.

Tansy Wines was founded in 2020 by friends who started talking around a table at A16, the restaurant known for bringing southern Italian wines to diners, about how well those grapes grow in California. It is owned by women and made by women, and its founders live in Napa and San Francisco, with a winery in Sonoma. The name comes from the tansy wildflower that grows around vineyards in California and Italy.
Megan Glaab leads the winemaking. She has worked at Torbreck, Peay, Marcassin and Pisoni, and runs her own winery, Ryme Cellars, with her husband Ryan. All the wines are natively fermented with no additives, from growers who farm sustainably or organically: Fiano, Vermentino, Falanghina, Pinot Grigio and Nero d'Avola, a Pinot Noir from the Signal Ridge Vineyard ($48) and a Coombsville Cabernet Sauvignon from Glass Rock Ranch ($95). Decanter's Jonathan Cristaldi gave the Signal Ridge Pinot Noir 93 points.
Tansy sells online, shipping to 40 states, through a quarterly wine club and through California retailers such as K&L and Bottle Barn. The winery says its tasting room plans are still in the works. The day below starts in Forestville with a visit to Ryme Cellars, where Tansy's winemaker makes her own wines.
Tansy Wines does not offer tastings of its own.
The day below runs about $115 to $125 per person in tasting fees at Hartford, Ryme and Russian River Vineyards.
Tasting fees as of October 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
