Spicy Vines is a female-founded, family-run winery led by Crystalyn Hackett, its founder and managing director, and her partner Doug Hackett, the winemaker, whose wines have won more than 200 medals. Its tasting room is on Healdsburg Avenue at the north end of downtown Healdsburg.
Doug makes small-lot wines from high-elevation and old-vine vineyards across California, and the winery is known for its signature spiced wines and spirits alongside them. The winery itself is on Pine Mountain, where Spicy Vines offers a private tasting with the winemaker, with barrel samples and the mountain views.
The tasting room is a relaxed, lively stop: curated flights, wines by the glass or bottle, wine cocktails and house-made food, live music on Saturday afternoons and dogs welcome. It also runs hands-on classes: a blending class with the winemaker, in which you taste from the barrel, blend your own wine, then bottle and label it, and a wine mixology class with Crystalyn. Because it opens at noon, it begins a later day.
Tasting fees to be verified upon reservation. Spicy Vines does not publish prices for its flights and classes.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

Pickup at 11:45 a.m. from a Healdsburg hotel such as Hotel Healdsburg or Harmon Guest House.
Hotel Healdsburg, on the town plaza, and Harmon Guest House, a boutique hotel just off the plaza, are each about 5 minutes from Spicy Vines, which opens at noon, so this is a later day. The day below fits a six-hour tour, and extra time can be added by the hour.
A seated flight in the tasting room, or a blending class booked ahead; we confirm the fee when we book.
About 5 minutes away. James Beard finalists Mark and Terri Stark's tapas bar on Center Street, steps from the Healdsburg plaza, with paella, Spanish wines and tables indoors or outside. Open daily from 11:30 a.m. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.
About 25 minutes away. A family estate on West Dry Creek Road with head-pruned Zinfandel and Petite Sirah vines planted in 1920. A host leads a behind-the-scenes walk through the winery, past the barrels and the harvest equipment, then pours four estate wines of your choosing in the rustic tasting room. The winery does not publish its tasting fee. By appointment, daily 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
About 10 minutes away. The Seaton family has farmed this ranch on West Dry Creek Road since 1966, when it was apple, prune and pear orchards; Buzz Seaton farms the vineyard and his daughters help run the winery, with views over the family's vines. The family tasting of six wines is $20, waived with a wine purchase, and the Private Tasting is $200 per group of up to 8. Reservations by phone.
Back in Healdsburg by 5:20 p.m.
Three wineries is the right pace for a day of serious tasting. Spicy Vines opens at noon, Thursday to Monday, so this day starts at 11:45 and ends around 5:20. Zichichi takes appointments until 4:30 and Seaton does not publish its hours, so we confirm both when we book.
About $20 per person at Seaton, paid directly to the winery; tasting fees at Spicy Vines and Zichichi are to be verified upon reservation.
