About the Winery

In 1966 Hugh and Ruth Seaton bought a 70-acre ranch in Dry Creek Valley, with a small farmhouse, an old red barn and orchards of apples, prunes and pears. Their son Buzz, just out of high school, helped his father however he could. In 1982 the two built a second house on the hillside, with a wall of windows over the valley, where Hugh and Ruth lived the rest of their lives.

As demand for wine grapes grew, the orchards gave way to Merlot, Zinfandel and Cabernet, and the ranch became a vineyard of more than 30 acres selling fruit to local wineries. In 2004 Buzz and his wife, Sally, moved into the original farmhouse so Buzz could work alongside his father full-time, and within a few years wines made from Seaton grapes were winning gold medals for the wineries that bought them. That success led to a winery of their own.

Seaton is a small, family-run winery: Buzz farms the vineyard, his daughters help run the brand, and the wines are named for members of the family. A visit is relaxed and personal, with the family pouring and sweeping views over the vineyards they have farmed since the 1960s. For groups, the private tasting books the setting for up to eight guests.

Tasting Fees

$20 per person for the Seaton Family Wine Tasting of six wines, waived with a wine purchase. $200 per group for the Private Tasting with vineyard views, up to 8 guests.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
