Susie Selby and her father, Dr. David K. Selby, a Vietnam veteran, marble sculptor and spine surgeon, founded Selby Winery in 1994. Susie learned the craft on the job, working her way from tasting room manager to cellar master and assistant winemaker at a larger winery while making the first Selby wines. Her father died in 1997, and she has run the winery on her own ever since: it is 100% owned and operated by Susie Selby, with no partners or investors.
The first vintages were Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, and the range has grown to more than sixteen varieties, among them single-vineyard and reserve wines and small lots poured only in the tasting room, from whites and rosé to reds and dessert wines. Selby wines have been served at the White House since 1995, across four administrations of both parties.
The tasting room on Center Street is the oldest in downtown Healdsburg, half a block from the plaza and close to its restaurants and shops. It is an easy, unhurried first stop: we drop you at the door, and the range means there is something for every taste in the group.
$25 per person for a reserved tasting, about 45 minutes.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
