The Pitts family has grown grapes in the Russian River Valley since 1976. In 2000 Randy Pitts left San Francisco to oversee the family's nine-acre ranch on Olivet Road, and Harvest Moon released its first vintage in 2002, with Randy as winemaker.
The wines include Zinfandel, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Noir, Petite Sirah, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Sangiovese. In 2012 Randy added handcrafted sparkling wine made in the traditional méthode champenoise, which the winery pours as its Tiny Bubbles.
Visits have more variety than most: a seated tasting of six Harvest Moon and Tiny Bubbles wines led by the winery's wine educators, walk-in flights on the crush pad, a Taste, Paint & Plant session that adds painting and planting a succulent, and the three-hour Willowside Farm Tour & Tasting with a cheese board. Well-behaved children and dogs are welcome, which makes it an easy stop for families.
$40 to $50 per person for the seated Harvest Moon & Tiny Bubbles tasting of six wines, waived with a three-bottle purchase; crush pad flights are $25 to $35, and the Willowside Farm Tour & Tasting is $75.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

Vinarosa, set among 92 acres of vineyards in Santa Rosa, is about 20 minutes from Harvest Moon, and Hotel E, a restored 1906 Beaux-Arts landmark on the square in downtown Santa Rosa, about 25. Harvest Moon opens at 11, so we pick up at 10:40 at Vinarosa and 10:35 downtown. The day below fits a six-hour tour, and extra time can be added by the hour.
The seated Harvest Moon & Tiny Bubbles tasting of six wines ($40 to $50), about an hour.
About 10 minutes away. Nikolai Stez spent 17 harvests as assistant winemaker to Burt Williams at Williams Selyem before making his own small-lot Pinot Noir and Zinfandel here with his partner, Zina Bower; guests taste inside or out on a deck over the valley, at the top of a winding driveway off River Road. There is a nominal tasting fee, confirmed when we book. Drop-ins welcome Thursday to Monday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
About 20 minutes away. A café, soda fountain and general store at the center of Graton since 1995, serving down-home comfort food. Lunch from 11:30 a.m., with brunch on Sundays. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.
About 10 minutes away. Steve Kistler's Chardonnay house, founded in 1978, pouring in the Trenton Roadhouse, a restored farmhouse with a barn. The seated Five-Wine Tasting of four single-vineyard Chardonnays and a Pinot Noir is $175, 60 to 75 minutes. By appointment only, Tuesday to Saturday, with set start times; 21 and over.
Back in Santa Rosa by 4:30 p.m., about six hours after pickup.
Three wineries is the right pace for a day of serious tasting. This day works Thursday to Saturday, when Harvest Moon and Woodenhead are open and Kistler hosts; we book Kistler's set start time first and plan around it.
About $215 to $225 per person in tasting fees for Harvest Moon and Kistler, paid directly to each winery; Woodenhead's nominal tasting fee is to be verified upon reservation.
