ROWEN Wine Company is the Klein family's study of Sonoma County terroir, built around Cooley Ranch Vineyard. The ranch covers about 20,000 acres in the far northwest of the county, around the headwaters of Dry Creek. After an exclusive long-term lease, the Rodney Strong team spent about seven years studying its microclimates and digging some 200 soil pits before planting 200 acres on greenstone and volcanic soils around 2010 and 2011, at elevations from 500 to 2,040 feet.
The name comes from farming: a rowen is a second cutting of hay in one season, an unexpected windfall. The wines are Bordeaux-style blends and Cabernet Sauvignon, including the 600L Cabernet Sauvignon, the 600R red blend, the ROWEN Red Blend and the 2040 Cabernet from Sky High, the ranch's highest block, plus a newer Chardonnay. Justin Seidenfeld, who also makes the Rodney Strong wines, is the winemaker.
There is no separate ROWEN tasting room. Instead, the Rodney Strong tasting room on Old Redwood Highway pours a dedicated ROWEN flight, so you can taste these mountain wines side by side in a remodeled farmhouse-style room or out on the terrace. We confirm current details when we book.
$50 per person for the Rowen Flight of five wines, such as the ROWEN Chardonnay, Cooley Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon, 2040 Cabernet Sauvignon, 600R red blend and 600L Cabernet Sauvignon. Complimentary for club members. We confirm the current price when we book.
Tasting fees as of October 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
