Portalupi Wine began in 2002 with Tim Borges and Jane Portalupi. Tim brought more than 40 years of winemaking in Napa and Sonoma counties, and Jane a background in fashion retail marketing. Their idea was a portfolio of Cal-Ital wines: grape varieties that first came from Italy, and the wines of Italian immigrant families in Sonoma, sourced from multi-generation growers.
Tim and Jane have since passed the winery to Ryan and Katie Kunde. Ryan is a fifth-generation Kunde, raised in Sonoma County and trained in viticulture and enology at UC Davis, and the couple also founded DRNK Wines in Sebastopol. The list includes a single-vineyard Barbera, an Arneis and Arrossire di Barbera, a sparkling wine made by the traditional method.
The tasting room is at 107 North Street, a block from the plaza in downtown Healdsburg, and it stays open into the early evening on Fridays and Saturdays. It makes an easy afternoon stop between lunch in town and another downtown tasting room. We confirm current details when we book.
Prices for the Portalupi Tasting Experience are shown only when you reserve. The tasting fee is confirmed when we book.
Tasting fees as of October 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
