About the Winery

Nello Pellegrini came from Tuscany in 1915 and settled on the Santa Rosa Plain, a sister city of his hometown, Lucca. The family made its first wine from Sonoma County grapes in 1925, in a gravity-run winery in San Francisco, and when Prohibition ended in 1933 the Pellegrinis received Winegrower License No. 4. In 1973 Vincent and Aida Pellegrini bought a 70-acre apple and plum orchard on West Olivet Road to plant a vineyard. Robert Pellegrini tended it for three decades, and his daughter Alexia, the fourth generation, has run the winery and vineyard since 2017.

Olivet Lane was planted in 1975 with heirloom Martini Pinot Noir and Wente Chardonnay, at a time when planting Pinot Noir here was considered an experiment. Fifty years on, the family says it holds the Russian River Valley's oldest still-producing Pinot Noir vines, and its grapes have gone to Williams Selyem, Merry Edwards, Gary Farrell and Darioush. Robert bottled the first Olivet Lane Chardonnay in the late 1970s. The family built its Tuscan-style winery on the vineyard in 2001.

You drive in along an olive-lined lane, and tastings are poured in the rustic tasting room, the vineyard garden or under the trees of the olive grove. The catered tasting adds a shared board of house-made bread, salumi and cheese, and guests can also reserve a table in the Heritage Olive Grove. It is a relaxed, family stop with real history behind the wines.

Tasting Fees

$30 for the Classic Wine Tasting of five wines, 60 minutes. $60 for the Catered Tasting Experience with a shared lunch board, 90 minutes. $30 per table for the Heritage Olive Grove Picnic, with a minimum of one bottle per two adults.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
