Pangloss Cellars is named for Dr. Pangloss, the eternal optimist in Voltaire's novel Candide. The winery describes itself as a celebration of Sonoma and the many grape varieties grown here, from the foggy Sonoma Coast to the volcanic slopes of Moon Mountain. Winemaker Erich Bradley makes the wines in limited lots, and they are sold only direct from the winery.
Its home is the Repris Tasting Lounge on the east side of the Sonoma Plaza, a 1902 building of about 4,000 square feet. During a nine-month restoration the owners rebuilt the original redwood and glass storefront, uncovered the stone walls and exposed the hand-sawn beams. The lounge pours three family labels: Pangloss Cellars, Repris and Texture.
Tastings are seated and run about 90 minutes, with small plates available as add-ons. The Pangloss flight is four wines from rugged sites and historic vineyards, and guests can also build a flight across all three labels. It is an easy first stop on a plaza day, with several tasting rooms and lunch a short walk away. We confirm current details when we book.
$40 per person for the Pangloss Cellars Flight of four wines, about 90 minutes. $60 for the Texture Flight or an À La Carte Flight across all three labels, and $70 for the Repris Flight of Moon Mountain estate wines. $85 per person ($60 for members) for the private Heritage Site Experience of six wines with food. We confirm the current price when we book.
Tasting fees as of October 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
