About the Winery

Overshine was founded by David Drummond with his friend Sam Bilbro. David, whose roots run from Monterey to the Santa Clara Valley, came to Healdsburg through his brother's years playing the Healdsburg Jazz Festival, tasted Sam's wines and saw a future for wine where the music was turned up and everyone was welcome. Sam, a fourth-generation Sonoma County vintner, is winemaker and managing partner.

The home vineyards, Las Cimas and Il Campo, are farmed with organic and regenerative practices, and the winery also buys from historic Dry Creek sites such as Maple Vineyard and Gold Mine Ranch, as well as Parmelee-Hill near San Pablo Bay and Gap's Crown on the Sonoma Coast. The wines are made to be joyful and drinkable, what Overshine calls "California Soul."

The tasting room is five minutes from the plaza, and the experience is the point: a patio with expansive views, a rotating flight of six wines, and a listening station stocked with a deep vinyl collection, heaviest on soul. Guests are welcome to put on a record, and to dance if they feel like it.

Tasting Fees

The Overshine Wine Tasting is a curated flight of six wines on the patio or in the tasting room. Tasting fees to be verified upon reservation.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

A Suggested Six-Hour Day

Pickup at 9:45 a.m. from a Healdsburg hotel such as Hotel Healdsburg or Harmon Guest House.

9:45 · Pickup at Hotel Healdsburg or Harmon Guest House

Hotel Healdsburg, on the town plaza, and Harmon Guest House, a boutique hotel just off the plaza, are each about 15 minutes from Unti, the first stop. The day below fits a six-hour tour, and extra time can be added by the hour.

10:00 · Unti Vineyards

About 15 minutes away. George and Linda Unti planted here in 1990 and started the winery in 1997; the family farms about 60 organic acres of Italian and Rhône varieties, from Sangiovese and Montepulciano to Fiano. You choose six wines and your host explains where each variety comes from in Europe and how Unti grows it here. $25, waived with a bottle purchase. By reservation daily, tastings starting on the hour from 10 a.m.

11:20 · Overshine Wine Co.

About 20 minutes away. The six-wine flight on the patio, with records playing, about an hour.

12:40 · Lunch at Dry Creek General Store

About 15 minutes away. A country store since 1881 at the crossroads of Dry Creek Valley, with a deli for sandwiches, soups and salads, a front porch over the valley and a garden out back. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.

2:00 · Kokomo Winery

About 5 minutes away. Erik Miller's winery, named for his hometown in Indiana, among the benchland vineyards of Timber Crest Farms, with grower Randy Peters farming the single-vineyard sites. A dedicated host pours a seated 90-minute flight of five wines in the Cellar Lounge among the barrels or on the patio ($30). Seatings on the hour from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; reservations recommended.

3:30 · Back to your hotel

Back in Healdsburg by 3:45 p.m., within six hours of pickup.

Three wineries is the right pace for a day of serious tasting. Overshine opens at 11, so the day starts at Unti, which pours from 10, and Kokomo's seatings are on the hour.

About $55 per person at Unti and Kokomo, paid directly to each winery; the Overshine tasting fee is to be verified upon reservation.
