Erik Miller, owner and winemaker, started Kokomo in 2004 and named it after his hometown of Kokomo, Indiana; the coastal cypress on the label marks his move out west. His partner in the winery is grower Randy Peters, who farms the vineyards behind Kokomo's single-vineyard wines.
Kokomo makes more than a dozen varieties, focused on three Sonoma County appellations: Dry Creek, Russian River and Alexander valleys. The winery sits on the east side of Dry Creek Valley among the 120 acres of benchland vineyards at Timber Crest Farms, and its wines have earned 90-point ratings, Best of Class awards and gold medals since the early vintages.
The welcome is what guests remember here: a dedicated host for your table, either in the Cellar Lounge among the barrels or on a green patio under the tent and umbrellas. Each seated tasting is a 90-minute flight of five wines, and Kokomo likes to know if you are celebrating so it can make something of the day. Timber Crest Farms also has a picnic area and a bocce court looking out over the valley.
$30 per person for a seated tasting of five wines, 1.5 hours, in the Cellar Lounge or on the patio, waived with a purchase of two bottles per person. $40 per person for groups larger than 6. Complimentary for wine club members.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

Pickup at 10:45 a.m. from a Healdsburg hotel such as Harmon Guest House or Hotel Healdsburg.
Harmon Guest House, a boutique hotel just off the plaza, and Hotel Healdsburg, on the town plaza, are each about 15 minutes from Kokomo, so we collect everyone at 10:45 for the first seating at 11. This day runs a little past six hours because of the later start, and the extra time is added by the hour when you book.
The seated tasting of five wines in the Cellar Lounge or on the patio, 1.5 hours ($30).

Open Wednesday to Sunday from noon; we reserve the table for you. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.
About 20 minutes away. Jesse Katz's estate winery, opened in 2020, where gallery rooms built around the photography of his father, Andy Katz, look out over vines first planted in 1912; Katz was the first winemaker named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list. The seated Soil Series tasting of Bordeaux-style blends is $50 and the Site Series $75, each about 90 minutes. Reservations required, 21 and over; tastings from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
About 10 minutes away. A sparkling house founded in 2007 by three Sonoma-born sisters, pouring méthode champenoise wines in a tasting room built from five reclaimed shipping containers, white marble inside and a garden out back; it is a bright way to end the day. A Breathless Tasting Moment, seated in the lounge or on the patio, is $32 to $52 depending on the flight. Open Thursday to Monday until 6 p.m., last seated flight at 5; reservations appreciated.
Back in Healdsburg by 5:10 p.m.
Three wineries is the right pace for a day of serious tasting. Kokomo's first seating is at 11 and its tastings run 90 minutes, so this day starts with a 10:45 pickup and ends around 5:10. It works Thursday to Sunday, when Catelli's and Breathless are both open.
About $110 to $160 per person in tasting fees for the three wineries, paid directly to each winery.
