Nicolina Wines is the project of Kevin and Lacy, named for Kevin's mother, Nicolina. Kevin grew up making wine with his grandmother Rose in her basement outside Chicago, and Lacy grew up in Sonoma County as its orchards gave way to vineyards. Both have worked in wineries and vineyards in Sonoma and Napa, and the label draws on the Sicilian traditions of Rose's family.
The wines are made from the grapes of southern Italy and Sicily, in lots of two to four barrels. The Biancolella comes from Orsi Vineyard in Dry Creek Valley, which the winery says is the only planting of the grape in California. Nero d'Avola comes from the organic, dry-farmed Venturi Vineyard in Calpella, Mendocino County, as a carbonic red, a rosato and La Navi Matri, and the Malvasia Bianca from the organically farmed Capp Inn Ranch in Suisun Valley. Current bottles run from $22 to $55.
Nicolina sells through its online shop and offers allocations and events to its mailing list. There is no tasting room, so it does not receive visitors. The day below stays around Healdsburg, with a visit to Orsi Family Vineyards, where Nicolina's Biancolella grows, and two more wineries known for Italian grapes.
Nicolina does not offer tastings. On the day below, expect about $100 per person: $35 at Davero, $35 at Orsi and $30 at Seghesio.
Tasting fees as of October 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
