Mora Estate is the label of winemaker and chef Fabiano Ramaci, who grew up around wine at his family's restaurant, La Traviata, in San Francisco's Mission District. He made his first vintage in 2009, and his mentor was the Amarone master Giuseppe Quintarelli of the Veneto. The winery describes itself as a boutique winery based in Sonoma County.
Ramaci says he is the only winemaker in California working in the Amarone tradition. After harvest, the grapes dry on stacked racks for up to 120 days before they are crushed in January, a method called appassimento; for the Valpo, about a third of the fruit is dried and the rest is fermented on the lees of the previous Amarone-style vintage, a method called ripasso. Current wines include the 2021 Valporone, which won double gold and best in class with 97 points at the 2022 Los Angeles Invitational, the 2022 Valpo and a 2025 Rosato that JamesSuckling.com scored 90 points.
There is no tasting room. The wine is sold by allocation, at select retailers and restaurants in California, and through the online shop, and the website says tastings are by appointment only. The day below stays around Healdsburg and Dry Creek Valley with three estates that host, two of them with deep Italian roots.
Mora Estate does not publish a tasting fee; tastings are by appointment only.
On the day below, tastings are $35 at DaVero, $30 at Seghesio and $25 to $35 at Pedroncelli, paid directly to each winery.
Tasting fees as of October 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
