Moondance Cellars is a boutique Sonoma County winery making limited-production Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir and Zinfandel from grapes grown in Napa, Sonoma, the Russian River Valley and Dry Creek Valley. A second label, Orchard Station Winery, covers small-lot whites such as Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc from the Russian River and Dry Creek valleys.
The wines have done well at the Press Democrat North Coast Wine Challenge: at the 11th edition, the Orchard Station 2019 Chardonnay won Double Gold and Best of Class with 97 points, the Moondance 2021 Pinot Noir won Gold with 92 points, and the Orchard Station 2021 Sauvignon Blanc won Silver.
Moondance is based on Blank Road outside Sebastopol, but its website says there are no tastings there and that a new tasting location is coming soon. Until it opens, wine is sold through the website and a wine club with quarterly or twice-yearly shipments. The day below stays in the Green Valley and around Forestville, near Moondance's home.
Moondance Cellars does not offer tastings at present. The three wineries on the day below run about $135 per person: $35 at Marimar Estate, $40 at Emeritus and $60 at Hartford Family.
Tasting fees as of October 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

About 10 minutes away. Single-vineyard Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and old-vine Zinfandel from a family estate in the redwoods near Forestville. The Vineyard Exploration is $60, a seated tasting of five wines on the patio; we plan about an hour. Open daily by appointment, last appointment 3:30 p.m.
Back by about 3:45 p.m., about five and three-quarter hours after pickup.
All three wineries are open daily, so this day works any day of the week. If Moondance opens its new tasting location, we can add it; we check when we book.
About $135 per person in tasting fees for the three wineries, paid directly to each winery.
