About the Winery

Montrose Vineyards is a small Alexander Valley estate built around one grape, Cabernet Sauvignon. It makes two expressions from the estate: Reserve, for polished depth, and Heritage, for approachable elegance. The winery says each lot is picked at peak ripeness, fermented in small batches and aged in French oak, and that it pursues expression over scale.

The 2024 Heritage and Reserve Cabernets are the inaugural release. Montrose lists a Pinot Noir collection and other limited-production wines as coming next. The winery does not publish its founder's name or the vineyard's address.

There is no tasting room. The wines are sold by private allocation through the Montrose Circle: two six-bottle shipments a year, in spring and fall, with shipping included and invitations to member release gatherings when offered. The day below goes to three Alexander Valley estates that do host.

Tasting Fees

Montrose does not offer tastings. On the day below, the tasting fees are $90 at Jordan, $45 at Medlock Ames and $65 at Silver Oak, about $200 per person in all, paid directly to each winery.

Tasting fees as of October 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

A Suggested Six-Hour Day

Pickup at 9:30 a.m. from a Healdsburg hotel such as Hotel Healdsburg or Montage Healdsburg.

9:30 · Pickup at Hotel Healdsburg or Montage Healdsburg

Since Montrose does not host visitors, this day takes you to three sought-after estates nearby that do. Hotel Healdsburg, on the plaza, and Montage Healdsburg, on the hill east of town, are both about 15 minutes from the first stop. The day runs about six and a half hours, and extra time can be added by the hour.

10:00 · Jordan Vineyard & Winery

About 15 minutes away. A French-inspired chateau making just two wines, Cabernet and Chardonnay, with food pairings at every tasting. The Winery Tour & Tasting is $90, about 90 minutes, daily at 10 a.m. by appointment; guests are asked to arrive 15 minutes early. We arrive by 9:45, as Jordan asks.

11:45 · Medlock Ames

About 5 minutes away. Organically farmed Bell Mountain wines poured on a garden patio. The Signature Tasting is $45, about an hour; open daily 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., reservations recommended.

1:05 · Lunch at Healdsburg Bar & Grill

About 15 minutes away. A casual downtown Healdsburg spot for lunch, known for its fried chicken and applewood-pit barbecue. We confirm hours when we book. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.

2:35 · Silver Oak Cellars Alexander Valley

About 15 minutes away. Silver Oak's Cabernet, aged only in American oak, at the world's first winery built to LEED Platinum. The Silver Oak Tasting of four wines is $65, about an hour; open daily from 10 a.m., with reservations recommended.

3:35 · Back to your hotel

Back by about 3:55 p.m., about six and a half hours after pickup.

Jordan's 10 a.m. tour sets the start of the day, and it does not run on Sundays in December. Medlock Ames and Silver Oak are open daily.

About $200 per person in tasting fees for the three wineries, paid directly to each winery.

Every tour is custom. This day is a starting point: your chauffeur will shape it around what matters to you, and we plan multi-day tours for guests who want to see more of wine country.
