About the Winery

Charles Kreck sold his share of the family hardware business in the late 1940s and moved north to Healdsburg, and in 1964 the Kreck family began growing grapes, planting the first Cabernet Sauvignon in what is now the Dry Creek Valley appellation. They bought the estate on Westside Road in 1969, turned prune orchards into vineyard and made their first wine in 1974. Four generations of the family have worked here, and Jeremy Kreck has been winemaker since 2004.

Mill Creek makes Bordeaux-focused wines from its estate vineyards in Dry Creek Valley and Alexander Valley, certified sustainable since 2017. Merlot, first bottled on its own here in 1977, became one of the most popular wines in the lineup and has been served twice at the White House.

In 1982 brothers Bob and Bill Kreck milled trees from the family property and built the tasting room themselves, modeled on the wood mills of the turn of the century, down to the hand-hewn bar and the waterwheel turning in the pond. Tastings are seated outdoors beside the waterwheel, looking over the estate vines and across the valley, an easygoing stop just a mile from the Healdsburg plaza.

Tasting Fees

$30 for the Signature Flight of five wines and $40 for the Reserve Flight of five limited-production wines from the best estate blocks, each seated outdoors by the waterwheel.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

The Madrona, a historic mansion turned hotel on Westside Road, and h2hotel, just off the Healdsburg plaza, are each about 15 minutes from Rochioli, the first stop. 10:30 · Rochioli

About 15 minutes away. One of the founding families of Russian River Valley Pinot Noir, farming Fenton Acres on Westside Road since the 1930s; its first estate wine, the 1985 Pinot Noir, topped Wine Spectator's list of Pinot Noir. About 15 minutes away. The Signature Flight ($30) or the Reserve Flight ($40), seated by the waterwheel, about an hour.

1:05 · Lunch at Little Saint

About 5 minutes away. A plant-based restaurant, coffee bar and wine shop on North Street in downtown Healdsburg, with a farm of its own. Open daily from 8 a.m. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.

2:30 · Porter Creek Vineyards

About 20 minutes away. Alex Davis's organic family estate on Westside Road, with a Pinot Noir block planted in 1973 and a small tasting room with outdoor tables over the vines. The Grand Tasting of one Chardonnay and four Pinot Noirs is $50, and Alex leads private vineyard and winery tours by four-wheel drive or on foot, ending with the Grand Tasting, for $125 (2 to 5 guests). Open daily from 10:30 a.m.; walk-ins welcome as space allows.

3:30 · Back to your hotel

Back in Healdsburg by 3:50 p.m., within six hours of pickup.

Three wineries is the right pace for a day of serious tasting. Rochioli is closed on Sunday, so this day works Monday to Saturday.

About $105 to $190 per person in tasting fees for the three wineries, paid directly to each winery.

Every tour is custom. This day is a starting point: your chauffeur will shape it around what matters to you, and we plan multi-day tours for guests who want to see more of wine country.
