About the Winery

John and Nancy Lasseter met at a computer graphics conference in San Francisco in 1985, and John went on to direct Toy Story. They moved to Sonoma Valley in the early 1990s to raise their five children, were bottling their own Bordeaux blend as Christmas gifts by 1997, and soon started Lasseter Family Winery on a historic Glen Ellen property founded by a French winemaker in 1894. 2025 marked the winery's 25th anniversary and its 20th estate vintage.

The Lasseters restored the old vineyards, farm them organically with beehives, owl boxes and insectaries, and built a low-profile, eco-friendly winery within the small footprint of the original. The estate fruit comes from Justi Creek Vineyard around the winery, with century-old Heritage Blocks of Zinfandel in a field blend, high-elevation Trinity Ridge Vineyard in the Moon Mountain District and Los Guilicos Vineyard for Sauvignon Blanc. Stephen Cruzan is winemaker, with Tony Biagi consulting, and each Inspiration Series wine carries commissioned label art.

Visits are personal and by reservation. The Estate Vineyard Tour takes you through the vines in a club cart, Heritage Blocks included, with cheese and charcuterie; the Cellar Tour starts with a sip and stroll in the vineyard and ends in a private tasting salon with small bites from Chef Clinton Huntsman; and the Patio Tasting is a shaded flight with sweeping views of the estate. The entrance is tucked behind a school off Henno Road, and navigation apps often get it wrong, so it is an easy place to arrive with a driver who knows the turn.

Tasting Fees

$60 for the Patio Tasting of five estate wines. $95 for the Estate Vineyard Tour & Tasting by club cart, with local cheese and charcuterie, or for the Cellar Tour & Salon Tasting of five wines with small bites.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
