About the Winery
Intent Wines works with small family farms that grow its grapes, and its team aims to be present in those vineyards. The winery's stated goal is for each wine to reflect its vineyard, taking a non-interventionist approach in the cellar.
The grapes come from organic or biodynamic vineyards farmed without synthetic sprays, and they are hand picked. The wines are made at a gravity-flow winery with native yeast fermentations, bottled unfined and unfiltered, and finished with sugar cane corks and domestically produced glass.
Tastings are by appointment at the winery's space on Coffey Lane in north Santa Rosa (listed as Inspiration Vineyards), scheduled by email. The winery also holds occasional open house tastings with other small producers. Coffey Lane is home to several small wineries, which makes it easy to pair with other tastings nearby. Intent Wines does not publish its tasting days or hours, so we confirm the appointment first. Inman Family Wines is closed Tuesday and Wednesday; on those days we swap in Donelan Family Wines, by reservation on Coffey Lane.
