About the Winery

DRNK was founded in 2012 by winemaker Ryan Kunde, his wife, Katie, and her parents, Dale and Nancy Dougherty, and the name is the four founders' initials. As the winery puts it, when they left out the I, they made room for you. Ryan was born in the town of Sonoma into the fifth generation of the Kunde winegrowing family. He earned a business degree at Arizona State, sold wine for Gallo and worked internships and vineyard and winery jobs before earning a second degree, in viticulture and enology, at UC Davis in 2011.

Ryan blends an understanding of the land and tradition with science and data for what he calls precision winemaking. DRNK makes small batches from a network of top growers across Sonoma County, including Russian River Valley, Sonoma Valley and Moon Mountain wines, and its Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir have won top awards. The wines are aged in the winery's own cave.

That cave is the reason to come. DRNK sits atop Laguna Ridge, and its hidden 300-foot wine cave is one of only four in the Russian River Valley. The Cave Tour & Patio Tasting takes you through it before a tasting outside, and the Private Cave Tasting is poured inside the cave itself. Families and leashed dogs are welcome.

Tasting Fees

$35 per person for the Cave Tour & Patio Tasting, and $75 for the Private Cave Tasting.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

A Suggested Six-Hour Day

Pickup at 9:45 a.m. from The Sebastopol Inn or Farmhouse Inn in Forestville.

9:45 · Pickup at The Sebastopol Inn or Farmhouse Inn

The Sebastopol Inn, in downtown Sebastopol, and Farmhouse Inn, a 25-room country inn among the vineyards and redwoods of Forestville, are each about 15 minutes from DRNK Wines. The day below fits a six-hour tour, and extra time can be added by the hour.

10:00 · DRNK Wines

The Private Cave Tasting inside the 300-foot cave ($75), about an hour, or the Cave Tour & Patio Tasting ($35).

11:25 · Porter-Bass

About 25 minutes away. Dirck and Sue Bass found this century-old vineyard at the top of Mays Canyon in 1980, nine miles from the ocean in a saddle between two redwood-lined ridges, and winemaker Luke Bass makes estate Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Zinfandel from it. Seated tastings for no more than 10 guests, indoors and out; the fee is confirmed when we book. Reservations required.

12:50 · Lunch at Willow Wood Market Cafe

About 25 minutes away. A café, soda fountain and general store at the center of Graton since 1995, serving down-home comfort food. Lunch from 11:30 a.m., with brunch on Sundays. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.

2:20 · Reichwage Winery

About 20 minutes away. Max Reichwage farms Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Gamay Noir and Carignane on an old Sebastopol apple ranch and sells about half his grapes to wineries such as Littorai, Ridge and Carlisle. The seated tasting of five wines, in a new farmhouse tasting room looking over West Sonoma County, is $40, waived with a four-bottle purchase. Open Friday to Sunday; appointments from noon, the last at 4 p.m.

3:20 · Back to your hotel

Back in Sebastopol by 3:35 p.m., or Forestville by 3:50, about six hours after pickup.

Three wineries is the right pace for a day of serious tasting. DRNK and Reichwage both host Friday to Sunday, so this is a weekend day; DRNK and Porter-Bass set their appointment times when we book.

About $115 per person in tasting fees for DRNK's private cave tasting and Reichwage ($75 with the cave tour instead), paid directly to each winery; the Porter-Bass fee is to be verified upon reservation.

Every tour is custom. This day is a starting point: your chauffeur will shape it around what matters to you, and we plan multi-day tours for guests who want to see more of wine country.
