DNA Vineyards is run by proprietors Dennis Patton and Andrea Silverstein. Patton has been harvesting grapes and making wine for more than 40 years, is regarded as a leading figure in Mendocino County wine and consults for wineries across Northern California. Silverstein has worked in the wine trade for more than 30 years, including a decade running a wine and spirits export company, and manages the business and its operations.
The company keeps two vineyards, in Sonoma and Mendocino counties, and buys from other growers in the region. It moved into Russian River Valley Pinot Noir in 2012, when it added its Sonoma County vineyard. Under the DNA Vineyards label, the estate Pinot Noir is hand-picked in the Laguna Ridge area of the Russian River Valley, joined by a Russian River Valley Chardonnay and a Cabernet Sauvignon from a steep mountain vineyard above the Dry Creek Valley floor. The vineyard is Fish Friendly Farming certified. Much of the company's work, for more than 15 years, has been designing private-label wines for national retailers.
There is no tasting room, and the website offers no visits or online shop. The day below stays in the Russian River Valley, close to the Laguna Ridge, at three estates that do host.
DNA Vineyards does not offer tastings.
On the day below, the seated Estate Wine Tasting at Balletto is $30, the Appellation Tasting at Merry Edwards is $45 and the Farmer's Flight at Dutton-Goldfield is $35.
Tasting fees as of October 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
