About the Winery

The Chenoweth family's ranch in the hills of West Sonoma County has been in the family since the mid-1800s, and its youngest member is the seventh generation on the land. Charlie Chenoweth grew up farming it, and in 2000 he tore out the family's apple orchard to plant Pinot Noir. For more than three decades the family has farmed sought-after grapes for other wineries, and Charlie is the grower winemakers call for Pinot Noir.

His daughter Amy worked in the family's vineyard management business, trained at UC Davis, and in 2010 launched Chenoweth Wines with just fifty cases of Pinot Noir from the family's hillside vineyard in the Green Valley. It has grown to about 600 cases a year of small-lot Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from three family vineyards, Home Ranch, Bootlegger's Hill and Treehouse. Amy, her family and a team of women farm every grape and bottle every wine themselves.

Chenoweth does not publish a public tasting schedule. Its club members are invited to tastings, vineyard tours and meet-the-maker events at the ranch, and the family takes questions by phone and email. We ask on your behalf for a private visit to taste with the people who grow the grapes.
