About the Winery

Capo Creek is the second act for Dr. Mary Roy, a retired radiologist, and Dr. Bob Covert after careers in medicine. It is a family business: Mary's sister Nadine Roy is co-owner, and Nadine's wife, Peg, is involved too. Mary is chef, winemaker, CEO, marketer and host.

Mary's approach in the vineyard and the cellar is small batches, close attention and a deep respect for the land, with an emphasis on organic farming and sustainability. In the kitchen she cooks seasonal comfort food to pair with the estate wines, and she will work around vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, gluten-free and dairy-free diets.

Food is the heart of a visit, served in gardens that look over the vineyards of Dry Creek Valley. The choices run from a six-wine flight at the bar with kitchen bites to a four-course lunch, a vineyard ride by RTV with a wine cave visit and lunch, Sunday brunch, and Mary's Table, a six-course lunch at her private table with a cave tour. The ranch also hosts events, among them a two-day harvest celebration with a 5 a.m. grape pick and a Champagne breakfast.

Tasting Fees

$55 for Belly Up to the Bar, six wines with kitchen bites, about 90 minutes. $95 plus tax and 20% service for Taste of the Day, a four-course lunch with five wines, about 90 minutes. $125 for Sunday Brunch, three courses and five wines. $195 plus tax and 20% service for the Vineyard Immersion, an RTV vineyard tour, cave visit and lunch, about 2 hours. $265 plus tax and 22% service for Mary's Table, about 3 hours ($350 with the vineyard ride).

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

A Suggested Six-Hour Day

Pickup at 10:00 a.m. from a Healdsburg hotel such as Hotel Healdsburg or Harmon Guest House.

10:00 · Pickup at Hotel Healdsburg or Harmon Guest House

Hotel Healdsburg, on the town plaza, and Harmon Guest House, a boutique hotel just off the plaza, are each about 30 minutes from Capo Creek, near the top of West Dry Creek Road. The day below runs a little under six and a half hours; extra time is added by the hour.

10:30 · Capo Creek Ranch

Belly Up to the Bar: six estate wines with fresh kitchen bites, about 90 minutes ($55).

12:10 · Zichichi Family Vineyard

About 10 minutes away. A family estate on West Dry Creek Road with head-pruned Zinfandel and Petite Sirah vines planted in 1920. A host leads a behind-the-scenes walk through the winery, past the barrels and the harvest equipment, then pours four estate wines of your choosing in the rustic tasting room. The winery does not publish its tasting fee. By appointment, daily 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

1:25 · Lunch at Diavola

About 15 minutes away. Chef Dino Bugica's restaurant in a historic building on Geyserville Avenue, with Neapolitan-style pizza from a wood-burning oven, handmade pasta and house-cured salumi; the menu changes every day. Lunch is served daily from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.

3:00 · Martorana Family Winery

About 25 minutes away. The Martorana family bought its land on West Dry Creek Road in 1983, and today certified organic vineyards and olive trees surround a small winery where tastings can be poured in the wine cave; Gio Martorana makes Olio di Gio olive oil on a traditional press from Italy. Tasting fees are confirmed when we book. Open Friday to Monday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., final tasting at 4; reservations recommended.

4:00 · Back to your hotel

Back in Healdsburg by 4:25 p.m.

Three wineries is the right pace for a day of serious tasting. Martorana is open Friday to Monday, so this day works Friday to Monday. If you would rather make Capo Creek your lunch, Taste of the Day ($95) or the Vineyard Immersion ($195) replaces the bar tasting and lunch in Geyserville.

About $55 per person at Capo Creek, paid directly to the winery; tasting fees at Zichichi and Martorana are to be verified upon reservation.

Every tour is custom. This day is a starting point: your chauffeur will shape it around what matters to you, and we plan multi-day tours for guests who want to see more of wine country.
