Brothers James and Mark Blanchard founded Blanchard Family Wines in Healdsburg in 2009, built on their shared vision of great wine as something that brings friends and family together. In James's words, wine is a beverage of history, religion, politics and society.
The wines are hand-crafted and made in very small amounts, and the brothers draw on vineyards in several California appellations; in 2018 they named the Russian River Valley, Alexander Valley, Carneros and Mendocino, at about 2,000 to 3,000 cases a year. The label has since added wines from Colorado and opened tasting rooms in Denver's Dairy Block and in Golden, but Healdsburg remains the headquarters winery.
In Healdsburg, visits are by reservation and personal, with private tastings offered by Mark Blanchard. The winery is on West North Street, a few minutes from the plaza, so it makes an easy first stop before heading out to the valley. Its California booking site was offline when we checked, so we arrange the appointment directly.
Tasting fees to be verified upon reservation.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
