About the Winery

Ben Papapietro and Bruce Perry began making wine as a hobby in Ben's garage in San Francisco in the early 1980s. Ben spent 37 years with the San Francisco Newspaper Agency, and Bruce was a third-generation San Franciscan. By the 1990s their wines were good enough to sell, and in 2000 space at Windsor Oaks Winery marked their arrival on the commercial scene.

Papapietro Perry makes Pinot Noir and Zinfandel, much of it from single vineyards: Peters, Leras Family and Nunes in the Russian River Valley, Campbell Ranch on the Sonoma Coast and Charles Vineyard in Mendocino County's Anderson Valley. The grapes are cold-soaked for two to four days before fermenting, and the Pinot Noirs spend 11 to 12 months in oak, the Zinfandels 12 to 17. Ben Papapietro is executive winemaker and David Low head winemaker.

The winery is still owned by the two families: Renae Perry, Bruce's wife, is owner and CEO, and Ben and Yolanda Papapietro are owners. Tastings on Dry Creek Road are seated, with five current releases in the Signature Tasting and five reserve wines on Friday to Sunday.

Tasting Fees

$35 for the Signature Tasting, a 75-minute seated tasting of five current releases. $50 for the Reserve Tasting of five reserve wines, 75 minutes, Friday to Sunday. Wine club members taste free, depending on membership level.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
