BACA is one of the wineries of Kathryn Walt Hall and Craig Hall, who also own HALL in Napa Valley and WALT. The name is Latin for berry, and the idea, in the winery's words, was luxury, craft Zinfandels that are "nuanced, honest, and current," made for people with a taste for adventure. Jennifer Brown is the vintner.
BACA goes looking for Zinfandel across California, from old vines and historic areas in Calistoga, the Russian River Valley, Rockpile, Howell Mountain and Paso Robles, and bottles eight Zinfandels, with names like Marbles, Somersault and Cat's Cradle, plus a few other wines.
The tasting room is just off the corner of Westside Road and West Dry Creek Road, a few minutes from the plaza, with panoramic vineyard views and artwork on display. It is relaxed rather than formal: walk-ins are welcome, and the tastings come with playful pairings, from chips and dips to charcuterie, cheese and caviar. Members can picnic beside the vineyard.
Tasting fees to be verified upon reservation. Food pairings, from chips and dips to charcuterie, cheese and caviar, can be added.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
