About the Winery

Vineyard {511} is a small, family-owned producer of estate wine, the project of Irene and Ed Ojdana, who bought a wine estate on Diamond Mountain above Calistoga in 2008 and made it their home. Ed founded Consumerinfo.com, later part of Experian. The winemaker is Rob Lloyd, a UC Davis enology graduate who was assistant winemaker and then winemaker at Rombauer Vineyards before starting his own consulting business in 2008.

The vineyard rises 750 feet above the valley floor on a steep, west-facing slope in the Diamond Mountain District, with rocky volcanic soil above the fog line. It is farmed by John Derr Farming. The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon, aged 30 months in new French oak, won a Double Gold at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition and is $129 a bottle.

There is no tasting room. The Napa Valley visitor directory lists Vineyard 511 as not open to the public, and its wines are sold online and through its wine club. The day below stays in Calistoga, with three estates that host, starting on Diamond Mountain itself at Schramsberg.

Tasting Fees

Vineyard 511 does not offer tastings. On the day below, fees run $100 at Schramsberg, $90 at Larkmead and $60 at Frank Family, paid to each winery.

Tasting fees as of October 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
