About the Winery

Stan and Patty Teaderman bought their 14 acres in Oakville in 1978. The land was planted to Sauvignon Blanc, which they sold to Robert Mondavi Winery. In 1984 Stan began making small batches of wine for family and friends, and in 2001 the family released its first commercial wine, a Cabernet Sauvignon. In Stan's words, 'we made just a little wine for our friends, now we offer them to everyone.'

The vineyard lies in the heart of the Oakville AVA near Conn Creek, with cool mornings and warm afternoons, and the family replanted much of it to Cabernet Sauvignon. Today it makes a classic, structured Oakville Cabernet and a fruit-driven Sauvignon Blanc, a nod to the estate's beginnings, along with older Library and Vault Collection releases of aged, limited vintages.

The wines are sold through the winery's online shop, by phone and by email. Teaderman does not have a tasting room yet: its website says a tasting room and patio with vineyard views are 'currently in the works.' Until it opens, the estate does not receive visitors, and the day below takes you to three Oakville and Rutherford estates that do.
