Taylor Berkley Boydstun founded T. Berkley Wines in 2016 and still owns it and makes the wines. It started with Cabernet Franc, the grape that drew Boydstun into winemaking. A career that began in 2010 took Boydstun to Felton Road in New Zealand, Brokenwood in Australia, Weingut Knoll in Austria, and Kosta Browne and Littorai in California. The label is named for Boydstun's maternal grandfather, Jack Berkley.
The wines are inspired by the Loire Valley and made from California fruit. The focus is Cabernet Franc and old-vine Chenin Blanc, bought from small growers who farm sustainably or organically. Sources include Chenin Blanc planted in 1980 at Sterling Ranch near Ukiah, and the Cabernet Franc includes Big Ranch Vineyard in Oak Knoll, planted in 1978. Fermentations use native yeast, with some wines aged in sandstone amphora.
Since the 2018 harvest the wines have been made at the Teachworth Napa Valley estate in the Diamond Mountain District, where Boydstun also manages the vineyard and makes the estate Cabernet Sauvignon. Visits are by appointment and privately hosted, a behind-the-scenes tasting at the production home on a wooded mountainside just south of Calistoga. Expect a mix of white, rosé and red wines.
$50 for the T. Berkley Tasting, a guided 90-minute tasting of white, rosé and red wines. $75 for the Chenin Blanc Vertical Tasting of single-vineyard Chenin Blanc across several vintages. $100 for the Winemaker Library Tasting with Taylor Berkley Boydstun, 90 minutes, Sundays only.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
