About the Winery

SummitVine began in 1998 with raw land high on Diamond Mountain. The first vineyard was planted in 2001, and from the 2004 vintage another winery made eight years of vineyard-designated "SummitVine Ranch" Cabernets from its fruit. When that contract ended, vintner Michael Klopka decided in 2013, over dinner with winemaker Brett Adams, to make a limited single-vineyard wine under the SummitVine name. The wines are made at the family's bonded winery, MK Cellars.

The current wines are the 2018 Diamond Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2017 Diamant red blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, and a 2020 Pinot Noir from the Bogart Vineyard on a Sonoma hillside. According to the Napa Wine Project, the original Diamond Mountain estate was sold after the 2020 fires, and the family's new property on Franz Valley School Road is being planted.

There is no tasting room, and SummitVine is not open to the public. The wines are sold online and through its wine clubs. The day below stays in northern Calistoga, close to Diamond Mountain, with three estates that host.

Tasting Fees

SummitVine does not offer tastings. On the day below, fees run $65 at Chateau Montelena, $50 to $75 at Tamber Bey and $50 at Girard, paid to each winery.

Tasting fees as of October 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
