About the Winery

Sollevato is the label of Nikki Lamberti, a wine educator and winemaker who spent more than 25 years with the Disney Company, and Michael Briones, a nurse and home cook. They began making wine at home in 2015 from leftover grapes, and lost their house, and about eight cases of just-bottled wine, when the 2017 firestorm burned their Coffey Park neighborhood. They rebuilt and moved back in 2019. Sollevato is Italian for "joyful and lifted up."

After Nikki finished a UC Davis certificate in winemaking, the couple bought their first official grapes in 2019: half a ton of Sangiovese from Joe at Ramazzotti Wines in Geyserville, which they helped pick, and a full ton in 2020. At Julie Johnson's invitation, they make the wine at Tres Sabores in St. Helena. The 2019 vintage was 286 hand-labeled, waxed and numbered bottles, and the 2022 grew to 861. The current 2023 Sangiovese ($75) scored 92 points and the first Grenache ($55) 91 points from Wine Enthusiast; both are 100% single-vineyard.

Sollevato has no tasting room of its own and sells through its website, mailing list and wine club, so it does not receive visitors. The day below begins at Tres Sabores, where Sollevato is made, and continues to two St. Helena Cabernet houses.

Tasting Fees

Sollevato does not offer tastings.

The day below visits Tres Sabores ($65), Corison ($75) and Heitz Cellar ($75), about $215 per person in tasting fees.
