Mark Pulido and Donna Walker released their first wine, the 2010 vintage, and set out to "Pursue the Possible" with single-vineyard Cabernet. Their debut lot at Premiere Napa Valley in 2014 was the highest-selling debut at the auction. That same year they built Mending Wall Winery with winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown and Outpost founder Frank Dotzler.
By 2019 every vineyard was an estate: the Mt. Veeder Estate in the western Mayacamas, the Melanson Vineyard on Pritchard Hill, and the Policy Estate on State Lane in Yountville. Crops are thinned several times a season and picked by hand, and Brown takes a hands-off approach in the cellar. The label's apothecary weight is a nod to the family's obsession with precision.
Guests taste at Mending Wall, a small winery in the St. Helena AVA on the Silverado Trail, where all the wines are made. The Pulido~Walker Experience is a curated tasting of the single-vineyard wines and the story behind them. It is by appointment only, and the family gives priority to its mailing list, so we ask well ahead.
Tasting fees to be verified upon reservation. Pulido~Walker does not publish a fee for its experience at Mending Wall.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

Pickup at 10:00 a.m. from a nearby hotel such as Meadowood or Harvest Inn.
Meadowood, a resort in its own valley off the Silverado Trail, is about 10 minutes from Mending Wall, and Harvest Inn, in St. Helena, about 12 minutes. The day below runs about six and a half hours, and extra time can be added by the hour.
The Pulido~Walker Experience at Mending Wall Winery; we plan about 75 minutes. The fee is confirmed when the family accepts the appointment.
About 10 minutes away. Winemaker Luc Morlet's family winery in a pre-Prohibition stone building from 1880, restored and reopened in 2012. The private, seated tasting with a short tour is $200, about 90 minutes. By appointment, Monday to Saturday.
About 8 minutes away. A small, much-loved Italian restaurant on Main Street in St. Helena. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.
About 15 minutes away. A Spring Mountain winery where Les Behrens, self-taught, has made every wine; only a few seatings are held each day. The Behrens Family Winery Tasting is $100, about 90 minutes, at the 2:45 p.m. seating. By appointment, Monday to Saturday.
Back by about 4:35 p.m., about six and a half hours after pickup.
About $300 per person in tasting fees for Morlet and Behrens, plus the Pulido~Walker tasting fee, which is confirmed when we book; paid directly to each winery.
Morlet and Behrens host Monday to Saturday, and Behrens seats guests at set times (the 2:45 p.m. seating here), so this day runs about six and a half hours on those days. Morlet books up one to three months ahead.
