Rutherford · Napa Valley
A tiny family winery perched above the Silverado Trail east of Rutherford, run by brothers from an eighth-generation Napa farming family and pouring only single-vineyard Cabernet, and a suggested six-hour day around it.

The Piña family has farmed in Napa Valley since the 1850s, when their ancestors came west by wagon train. Great-grandfather Lafayette Stice learned winemaking at the Harris winery (now Martin Estate) and later directed winemaking at Inglenook. John Piña Jr. and Arline Piña started Piña Vineyard Management in the 1960s, and their four sons started the winery in 1979.
Piña is all about Cabernet Sauvignon. The tiny winery makes five 100% Cabernet, single-vineyard wines from vineyards the family farms around Napa Valley, so a tasting here is a side-by-side look at how site changes the wine. The winery is in the Rutherford AVA, perched above the Silverado Trail on the east side of the valley.
This is the opposite of a big tasting room, and that is the point. The Piña brothers call it one of Napa Valley's secret wineries, and guests who love Cabernet enjoy the chance to taste five vineyards with people whose family has farmed this valley for eight generations. Appointments are made directly with the tasting room.
Tasting fees to be verified upon reservation.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

About 10 minutes away. Rutherford Cabernet poured in the estate gardens or the historic barn where the winery opened in 1979, beneath a grove of sequoia trees. The Single Vineyard Experience is $75 ($100 with paired bites), and tastings last about 90 minutes. Reservations required; closed Tuesdays.
