About the Winery

MTGA Wines began in 2010, when Mike Anderson hand-harvested his first batch of Merlot with a picking bin in the back of a pickup truck. His family had moved to Napa in the early 1980s and founded Anderson's Conn Valley Vineyards, Trespass Vineyards, Ghost Horse Vineyards and Eagles Trace. The name stands for Michael Todd Gustaf Anderson.

Mike and his wife Brittany run MTGA together, and production stays under 1,000 cases a year. Merlot has been the flagship from the start. The first vintage, bottled in 2012, sold out in about two weeks after its release in the winter of 2013. The lineup also includes Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Bennett Valley Pinot Noir and Clarksburg Pinot Gris.

Tastings take place at 680 Rossi Road in Conn Valley, the family's quiet corner of the Napa Valley AVA east of downtown St. Helena. You sit down with Mike or Brittany for an in-depth conversation about wine, winemaking and farming. The Current Release Tasting pours at least five wines, and the Winemaker's Tasting adds wines made in only a barrel or two, plus barrel samples.

Tasting Fees

$75 for the Current Release Tasting, 90 minutes, with at least five wines. $175 for the Winemaker's Tasting, about two hours, with small-lot wines and barrel tastings. Optional add-ons: a reserve wine ($15) or a barrel tasting ($25).

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
