About the Winery

Lokoya was established in 1995 and is part of Jackson Family Wines. From the start it has been a collection of four Cabernet Sauvignons, one each from Mount Veeder, Howell Mountain, Spring Mountain and Diamond Mountain. Winemaker Christopher Carpenter makes all four, and the wines are made in small amounts.

The idea is simple: keep the grape and the winemaking the same, and let the site show. Every wine is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, fermented with native yeast and bottled unfined and unfiltered. The high vineyards need constant attention, and Lokoya says the wines are meant to be laid down and aged for 30 years or more.

The estate sits on Spring Mountain Road in the Spring Mountain District. The property was first developed as Yverdon in the 1960s, later became Terra Valentine, and was bought by Jackson Family Wines in 2013. Visits are by appointment only. Your host walks you from the foyer to a balcony over the valley to taste the four current Cabernets side by side.

Tasting Fees

$250 for the Mountain Experience, a seated tasting of the four current-release mountain Cabernet Sauvignons on the balcony, for parties of 2 to 6.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
