Randy and Debbie Lewis founded Lewis Cellars in 1992, and their son Dennis joined in 1999. Randy raced professionally for 23 years, from Formula 3 in Europe to five Indianapolis 500s, and fell for wine on the European circuit. The winery is now part of The Wonderful Company, and Jordan Jeffries, a UC Davis graduate, has been winemaker since 2023.
Lewis is known for big, plush reds and rich Chardonnay. Its 2013 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon was Wine Spectator's Wine of the Year in 2016, and the Medallion Reserve Cabernet (formerly Cuvée L) is the top bottling. The new estate sits in the Stags Leap District on the Silverado Trail, with interiors designed down to custom-tailored chairs and art inspired by the wines.
Guests settle into seated tastings in rooms the winery designed to heighten every sense, and the culinary pairings come from executive chef Rachel Haggstrom, who holds a Michelin star, and estate chef Christophe Gerard. The Legacy Tasting is the flagship visit, and for two guests the Salon Privé adds a private room, the private cellar and a personal concierge.
$80 for the Legacy Tasting, the flagship experience. $110 for the Reserve Tasting, an elevated flight. $130 for the Legacy Tasting with a canapé pairing and $150 for the Cellar Selection. $275 for Taste of Lewis, a four-course prix fixe pairing. The Salon Privé for two starts at $950 per reservation. Durations are not published; we plan about an hour for a tasting.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

Pickup at 10:00 a.m. from a nearby hotel such as Bardessono or Hotel Villagio.
Bardessono, a spa hotel in Yountville, is about 10 minutes from Lewis Cellars, and Hotel Villagio, a resort hotel in Yountville, about 10 minutes away. The estate opens at 10 a.m., so you're there for the first tasting of the day. The day below runs a little over six hours, and extra time can be added by the hour.
The Legacy Tasting, $80; we plan about an hour. Taste of Lewis ($275) is a four-course meal in itself, so on that day we suggest skipping lunch.
About 15 minutes away. A family Oakville Cabernet house that hosts at Oasis by Hoopes, a regenerative farm and rescue animal sanctuary at the south end of Yountville; your host walks you past the gardens and animals. The signature walking tasting of five current releases is $65 for 90 minutes. By appointment, daily 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
About 10 minutes away. Lunch at Mustards Grill on Highway 29 just north of Yountville, a Napa Valley favorite for more than 40 years, open daily for lunch. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.
About 10 minutes away. A hillside estate in the Yountville AVA where the visit takes in deep underground caves and a castle-style tasting room with vaulted ceilings of 18th-century brick. The Classic Experience of five or more wines is $175; we allow about 90 minutes. By appointment, Tuesday to Saturday.
Back by about 4:20 p.m., a little over six hours after pickup.
About $320 per person in tasting fees for the three wineries, paid directly to each winery.
Blankiet Estate hosts Tuesday to Saturday, so this plan suits those days; on Sunday or Monday we suggest another estate nearby. Three wineries is the right pace for a day of serious tasting.
