About the Winery

Sean Larkin grew up in Inverkeithing, a port town in Fife, Scotland, and emigrated to New Jersey in 1979, where he worked in sheet metal before training as a sommelier. He moved to Napa Valley to work for a brokerage representing small wineries, learned the craft from winemaker friends, and made his first Larkin vintage in 1999.

Larkin started with Cabernet Franc, a grape he felt California rarely gave the spotlight as a stand-alone wine, and soon added Cabernet Sauvignon. With the 2004 vintage he launched Jack Larkin, named for his son. Current releases include Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, a Chardonnay and a Carneros Pinot Noir from Hyde Vineyard. Robert Parker called Larkin a producer that "consistently turns out fine wines."

Production stays modest. The wines are sold through the mailing list and the website, in select markets and restaurants, from a post office box in Yountville. Larkin publishes no tasting room or visiting program, so it does not receive visitors. The day below takes you to three sought-after estates nearby that do.

Tasting Fees

Larkin does not offer tastings.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
