Kinsman Eades is the first wine project of Nigel and Shae Kinsman, an Australian couple who crushed their first fruit in 2016, scraping together everything they had in the same year their third child arrived. Nigel worked at Petaluma and Cullen in Australia and with Michel Rolland at Tolaini in Tuscany before becoming winemaker at Araujo Estate; Shae was general manager at the cult producer Abreu Vineyards.
The couple own no vineyard or winery. They make site-driven wines, mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, from growers they trust: Vine Hill Ranch, Sleeping Lady, Geeslin, M Bar Ranch, Ecotone and the former Reverie Vineyard, plus a Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon from Rancho Pequeño. Production started under 200 cases and has passed 1,000 a year. After the 2020 fires they chose not to release that year's Cabernets.
The wines are offered once a year to mailing list members, and the list is at capacity, with a waiting list on the winery's website. Kinsman Eades lists only a post office box in St. Helena and has no winery or tasting room, so it does not receive visitors. The day below takes you to three sought-after St. Helena and Spring Mountain estates that do.
Kinsman Eades does not offer tastings.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

Since Kinsman Eades does not host visitors, this day takes you to three sought-after estates nearby that do. Alila Napa Valley, a Hyatt resort in downtown St. Helena, is about 7 minutes from the first stop, and Harvest Inn, a vineyard-side resort at the south end of town, about 10 minutes. The day runs about seven hours, and extra time can be added by the hour.
About 7 minutes away. A small collection on Meadowood Lane built on single-vineyard Cabernet from Beckstoffer To Kalon, Las Piedras and Dr. Crane. The Estate Experience, a seated tasting with a small food pairing, is $175, about 90 minutes. Prepaid reservations, with start times from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
About 20 minutes away. A family estate high on Spring Mountain, where the Estate Tasting starts with a tour and the story of the property before a seated tasting of current and library wines. It is $175 (allow about 90 minutes), refunded with each three-bottle Cabernet purchase. By appointment, Monday to Saturday, prepaid.
About 20 minutes away. Lunch at Market, an American restaurant in a historic brick and stone building on Main Street in St. Helena, open for lunch Monday to Saturday from noon. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.
About 10 minutes away. Bought in 2020 by Florence and Daniel Cathiard of Château Smith Haut Lafitte, with a gravity-flow winery and a long horseshoe cellar cut into the Mayacamas foothills. The Private Estate Experience, a hosted tour and a tasting of the estate's three wines, is $175 (allow about 90 minutes). By reservation, requested ahead and final once the team confirms.
Back by about 5:00 p.m., seven hours after pickup.
About $525 per person in tasting fees for the three wineries, paid directly to each winery.
Vineyard 7 & 8 and Market are open Monday to Saturday, so plan this day for any day but Sunday. Cathiard sets the visit time when it confirms the request. The day runs about seven hours, back around 5:00 p.m.
