About the Winery

JennaMarise combines the names of its founders, Jenna Marie and Mara Denise, who grew up in an Italian family where wine was always on the table. They spent college summers working in wineries in California and abroad, worked with winemakers in California and Argentina, and then made their home in Napa Valley.

The winemaker is Bob Foley, who began in Napa Valley in 1977, was founding winemaker at Markham Vineyards for 15 years and then at Pride Mountain Vineyards for another 15, and now focuses on his own Robert Foley Vineyards. He took on JennaMarise in 2019. The Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon come from select vineyards in the Calistoga AVA, including one the family has loved for over 20 years, and the Pinot Noir from two dry-farmed Russian River Valley vineyards. The current wines are the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Russian River Valley Pinot Noir.

JennaMarise has no public hours. It hosts members of its mailing list at its tasting room by appointment only. The day below starts at Bob Foley's own winery on Howell Mountain and continues to two estates where he was the founding winemaker.

Tasting Fees

JennaMarise does not offer public tastings; mailing list visits are by appointment, and no fee is published. On the day below, the tasting fees are $50 at Robert Foley, $50 at Pride Mountain and $55 at Markham, about $155 per person in all, paid directly to each winery.

Tasting fees as of October 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

Alongside a visit to JennaMarise, which we arrange by appointment through its mailing list, this day takes you to three sought-after estates nearby. Meadowood and Alila Napa Valley are both in St. Helena, about 25 to 30 minutes from the first stop on Howell Mountain. The day runs about seven hours, and extra time can be added by the hour.

10:30 · Robert Foley Vineyards

About 25 minutes away. Bob Foley's small, family-run winery and wine cave on Howell Mountain, and the one place to taste his own wines. The tasting is $50 per person plus tax, about an hour, by appointment, usually Thursday to Saturday at 10:30 a.m.; we book at least 48 hours ahead.

11:55 · Lunch at The Charter Oak

About 25 minutes away. Lunch in St. Helena at The Charter Oak, Christopher and Martina Kostow's family-style New American restaurant. We confirm hours when we book. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.

3:20 · Markham Vineyards

About 20 minutes away. A Merlot pioneer around a stone cellar built in 1879, north of St. Helena. Discovery of Napa is $55, a 90-minute guided tasting; open daily 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Bob Foley was its founding winemaker for 15 years.

4:50 · Back to your hotel

Back by about 5:00 p.m., about seven hours after pickup.

About $155 per person in tasting fees for the three wineries, paid directly to each winery.

Robert Foley usually hosts Thursday to Saturday at 10:30 a.m., and Pride Mountain is closed Tuesdays, so plan this day for Thursday, Friday or Saturday. For a shorter day, skip Markham and you are back by about 3:30 p.m.
