St. Helena · Napa Valley
Jayson Woodbridge's hillside Cabernet estate, with its own winery dug beneath the Ark Vineyard. Hundred Acre does not receive visitors; here is what to know, and a day at sought-after estates nearby that do host.

Jayson Woodbridge, a Canadian who left investment banking, arrived in Napa Valley in 1999 and started Hundred Acre in 2000. The first vintage, a 2000 Kayli Morgan Cabernet Sauvignon, was made with consultant Philippe Melka. Woodbridge still owns and runs Hundred Acre, now part of his One True Vine company alongside Fortunate Son and Summer Dreams.
The wines come from the estate's own vineyards in the hills around St. Helena and Calistoga: the Ark, on steep south-facing slopes below Glass Mountain; Few and Far Between near Calistoga; and the Kayli Morgan bottling that started it all. Beneath the Ark sits The Ring, the estate's underground winery. Several 2013 and 2016 releases earned perfect 100-point scores from critic Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW.
Most of the wine goes to Hundred Acre's own list. The website, which says a full site is coming soon, offers a waiting list for future access to wine offerings, and Decanter reports that about a third of production is reserved for restaurants. The Ring is not open to the public and there are no tours or tastings, so we spend the day at nearby estates of the same caliber that do open their doors.
Hundred Acre does not offer tastings.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

Pickup at 10:00 a.m. from a nearby hotel such as Meadowood or Alila Napa Valley.
Since Hundred Acre does not host visitors, this day takes you to three sought-after estates nearby that do. Meadowood, a resort in its own small valley at the foot of Howell Mountain, and Alila Napa Valley, in the heart of St. Helena, are each about 12 to 15 minutes from the first stop. It is a full day with three seated tastings, back before 5 p.m.
About 12 minutes away. A family estate on the steep lower slopes of Howell Mountain, where a private walk through the hillside vineyard comes before a seated tasting of estate red blends with a view across the valley. The Estate Tasting Experience is $100, and we plan about 90 minutes. By appointment, Thursday to Saturday, with a $50 per person deposit.
About 15 minutes away, up the mountain. A family domaine on the western shoulder of Howell Mountain with its own underground winery; the Arkenstone Experience pairs a winery and vineyard tour with a seated tasting. $150, about 90 minutes, paid at booking. By private appointment, with a limited number of visits each day.
About 20 minutes away. Back down the mountain for lunch at Forum, the main restaurant at Meadowood, with seasonal dishes drawn from the Meadowood farm. Lunch is served Monday to Friday, with brunch on weekends until 3 p.m. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.
About 10 minutes away. A ghost winery abandoned after Prohibition and restored in a canyon east of St. Helena, where a walk through the caves leads to a seated tasting of six vintages of Merus Cabernet Sauvignon. The Collectors Tasting is $150, about 90 minutes. By appointment only, prepaid.
Back by about 4:50 p.m., a little under seven hours after pickup.
About $400 per person in tasting fees for the three wineries, paid directly to each winery.
Viader books visits Thursday to Saturday, and Forum serves lunch on weekdays with brunch on weekends, so plan this day for a Thursday, Friday or Saturday. It runs close to seven hours with three seated tastings; we can shorten it by dropping the last stop.
